Katie cut her cloth in the world of fashion where she founded a shoe and accessories line in 2015. Studio Humbug originated from Katie’s love for colour and pattern and her increasing interest in interiors, coupled with a desire to produce more sustainably on a made to order model from suppliers in the UK. All her printers and weavers are UK based, everything is printed to order in small batches using eco-friendly inks and all dead-stock is repurposed into one of a kind products by a local seamstress to minimise waste.
Katie returned to Downe House to run a workshop with Sixth Form art students. She shared her tips on creating beautiful textiles, inspiring the next generation of Downe House designers.
