Under her captaincy and for the first time in the history of OUEC, the Equestrian Club will be embarking on a transatlantic equestrian tour in September. Ten team members will travel to the East coast of the USA for two and a half weeks to compete against Ivy League universities including Yale, Cornell, Brown and Dartmouth in dressage and show jumping. Between competitions, the team will be trying out a number of sports centred in the US such as western riding and hunt seat equitation. The entire tour will be featured in a blog on the Horse and Hounds website starting at the end of August and finishing the week after the tour.
OUEC is aiming to make sure that each rider can compete in this international competition, an opportunity most would never otherwise have, by making the trip free for everyone. Tora is involved in an active fundraising campaign to cover the costs of the trip for the ten riders who come from all backgrounds, from European Youth Medallists to those who have never owned their own horse. The whole team have been working tirelessly to make this aim a reality, whether it is working to secure sponsorship, fundraising in and around Oxford or helping to organise an online charity auction.
We wish Tora and the team every success in their venture and look forward to following their progress with the fundraising appeal and the US tour in September.
