She moves fluidly between figurative works, expressive landscapes and contemporary still life. Her practice is unified by a distinct sensitivity to light, atmosphere, and form, bridging the gap between traditional craftsmanship and experimental technique.
Rachel’s professional artistic journey began at the historic Heatherley School of Fine Art in Chelsea, where she earned a Diploma in Portraiture. This training followed her degree at Cambridge University - an academic background that underpins the intellectual curiosity and thoughtful observation visible in her current work.
Highly active in the British art community, Rachel serves as President of the Society of Women Artists (SWA). This prestigious role underscores her dedication to championing women’s contributions to the arts. She is a regular exhibitor with the SWA at the Mall Galleries, London, and her work is held in high regard in group exhibitions across the capital and the wider UK.
Whether capturing the quiet intensity of the human figure or the shifting moods of a landscape, Rachel’s work reflects a deep engagement with the expressive possibilities of her medium. She currently lives and works in South West London.
The Society of Women Artists returns to London in June with its 165th Annual Open Exhibition, showcasing an exceptional collection of contemporary works by some of the finest women artists from across the UK and around the world.
From 23–27 June, visitors can explore around 450 artworks by both members and non-members, working in a wide range of media and styles. The exhibition offers a rich mix of large and small pieces, abstract and figurative, traditional and quirky.
