Dr Gino Yu is recently retired Associate Professor and Director of Digital Entertainment and Game Development at the School of Design at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He is a sought-after speaker on Blockchain and other emergent technologies and serves as an advisor to several leading-edge endeavours including SingularityNET, and Hanson Robotics.
Chinat Yu is a researcher, educator, and founder exploring how AI and hands-on learning can empower the next generation of builders. He holds a master’s degree in Learning, Design and Technology from Stanford University and has conducted research in generative AI and human-AI collaboration at Microsoft Research. He is also the founder of Quest2Learn, a mixed reality platform for science education.
Gino traced the evolution of the digital world, as Moore’s law of exponential growth spurred dizzying technological change. He also traced the evolution of human consciousness and shared his intriguing insight that technology, including AI, amplifies intention. He challenged our students to consider their own intensions as they enter a world of co-creation with AI, to ensure they leverage the incredible power of these technologies to create a better world.
Chinat shared his own journey from humanities major to expert in AI technologies. His journey began during the pandemic as he sat on numerous Zoom calls that replaced in person learning, and began to wonder how Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality technologies could be used to enhance the learning experience. His advice to our students was to keep a curious and open mind, equipped to embrace and invent the new technologies of the future.
