Reunions & Events |
Launching our DH Society events programme, Mrs McKendrick (Headmistress) and Ms Litvack (Development Director) hosted an exciting ‘Day at the Races’ for our Downe House School parents.
We began the day at Highclere Stud, one of the world’s leading, independent stud farms. Established over a century ago, the stud has a rich history of producing high class bloodstock, including their latest superstar, World Champion Miler Palace Pier. With 300 acres of undulating hills and lush grassland, it was the stunning setting for Downe House alumna Emily Scott, Director of Racing at Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, and Jake Warren to share their deep understanding of thoroughbred breeding and racing, introducing us to a selection of their mares, foals and yearlings.
Moving to Newbury Racecourse and an afternoon of racing, our guests enjoyed the Starlight Charity Raceday from the comfort of the Highclere private box, situated just above the winning post with a fantastic view of the track. Excitement peaked when a Highclere horse won the final race.
